Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
ive said it twice, auburn made the big plays when it counted. they took advantage of mistakes and made alabama pay in the second half. auburn only had two longer TD drive, the other were long bombs that auburn made huge gains, hitting the open guys on blown assignments or having mark barron make an epic goof up and not pick that ball. and the defense didnt let bama do anything in teh second half. the run game showed up for a bit then would disappear again, with auburn making the stops late. mcelwain was terrible after halftime, he has been bad at times this year. how many deep balls did bama try after the half compared to before? all kinds of success on the AU corners but went away from it.
alabama bottled up cam in the running game, he was only able to get positive gains less than 10 times, but he made huge throws in teh pass game.
on the fairley play; cmon, how many times have you ever seen that happen? the guard just lets teh DT go right by, then stands there and looks around while the same DT is able to get that fumble?
mark ingram fumbles once a career til friday; he puts the ball on the ground three times.
but its like AU didnt get some breaks too. julio, who has killed the au cb's for 10 catches and 199 yards, gets hurt before the last two drives of the game? auburn only had two penalties called as well, thats pretty unbelievable in a game like that. not saying it was ness. terribly called, but that just doesnt happen. its either a couple missed calls (and the non-PI late on 2nd down of the next to last bama drive on the pass across the middle was one) or a team played very, very well. auburn did, and they won late.
auburn stopped the bama run for the most part, was able to hit a couple outside runs late to pick up 1st downs and those big pass plays, came up big in the 2nd half.
but its a tough loss to handle, yeah. put up **** near 500 yards of offense, julio had almost 200 yards, mcelroy was excellent, a career high, hold a top 5 offense in country to 28 points and under 400 yards, shutting down the SEC's top rusher, holding him to 39 yards, jump out to a 24 point lead in the 2nd quarter, leave 17 potential points on the board in the first half with redzone turnovers, then have your starting QB go out before the most important drive of the season.
auburn played big and great after halftime, no doubt. but its tough to feel like bama played its best, especially after halftime and came up short,
they contributed some to auburn's great performance after the half, ill say that
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
And saying that, recognize that half of Bama's points came courtesy of a busted coverage (Julio's big TD) and a bad call (the celebration penalty on Fairley). Face it, Auburn out toughed and beat up Bama..that's all there is to it.
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
out toughed lol
ok, whatever. this game will be remembered as the game Bama gave away for years and years to come.
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
Yes...say it with me.. OUT TOUGHED AND OUT HIT.
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
whatever, if you really think that, have at it.
just remember, from here to eternity, people will remember that auburn's national title run was possible because alabama let them
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
Yeah..Bama let 'em..lol. About those CBs, after the half they weren't giving an 8-10 yard cushion like they were in the 1st half..that made a difference..and as for Fairley, I've seen him blow up O-linemen all year and last Friday was no exception. ****, y'all Bammers whine like a lil girl when ya lose..haha

who's whining? I didnt say the refs gave it to him, or anything like that. Auburn made big plays in the second half to win.
So the fact that Julio got hurt, or that Bama refused to work its short passing game and take deep shots, that Ingram fumbled for the second time in his career, a guard lets Fairley walk right by and sack McElroy, Fairley didnt run him over, he just went right past him, Stein the OG just stood there and let him sack Mc. and recover the fumble.
auburn took advantage of mistakes and made the huge plays, no doubts about. they were the better team after the half.
but the game could have easily been out of reach early, if not for some crazy, once in a season type of stuff like the fumble and the Julio getting hurt before the last two drives to win the game.
auburn was the better team, they won the game.
but to say outhit and out-toughed is ridiculous, laughable really.
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
Most of Bamas biggest stars missed significant time due to punishment sustained in the game..and the Ingram fumble was due to a great defensive play, not Ingram's lack of ability. I'll let you have the last word on this tho since Auburn had the last word on the field lol
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
huh? the only persons to miss time in the AU game was Julio from the rib injury (a reoccuring thing, he had hurt it earlier but it got aggravated on the kick return, which is stupid on Bama's part by even having him back there) and the McElroy concussion or whatever.
T-Rich played hurt, Mark Barron has a torn pectoral muscle and still played, etc.. Bama played thru the injuries for the most part.
it was a good defensive play by Coleman, he didnt give up and made the play, but Ingram never fumbles was my point. It was only his second fumble of his career.
Re: I can not believe I'm pulling for the Tide today
Wrong!! The number 2 WR was on tge bench with Julio as well..I don't know if he ever came back. He didn't maje anymore noise anyways.
